New CoolFlow PCM foam: for a cooler, more comfortable sleep

The launch of our latest foam – CoolFlow containing PCM – is a game-changer. CoolFlow PCM – or Phase Change Material – is a revolutionary foam that absorbs body heat, resulting in a better, healthier night’s sleep.

Why is cooler foam important?

Studies show that as we drift off to sleep, our body temperature lowers slightly, inducing slumber. Generally, a cooler environment leads to a more comfortable sleep.

Some mattress designs tend to retain more warmth than others. This may be due to the type and combination of materials used. A warmer mattress can lead to a less restful sleep.

CoolFlow PCM absorbs heat energy to improve the thermal comfort of the foam.

How does it work?

CoolFlow PCM foam contains trillions of capsules that help absorb heat throughout the night. CoolFlow is designed to transition heat energy “from a solid state to a liquid state, releasing the stored heat when temperatures drop”.

The capsules help to maintain an optimal temperature and keep the foam cooler than standard grades.

A safe, versatile foam

We recommend CoolFlow PCM for mattresses, pillows and mattress toppers.

Other benefits of the product include:

• low VOC
• it’s a renewable, bio-based product
• it’s cooler to touch
• CoolFlow PCM’s cooling qualities last for the lifetime of the foam

Our Thermal Comparison Test Results

Through thermal imaging, we’ve demonstrated CoolFlow PCM foam’s unique thermal management qualities.

Test #1: Full-body Temperature Test

We tested the temperature of a standard Premium Comfort foam against the CoolFlow PCM foam after a person had been lying down on each for 20 minutes. Both included the same grade of foam.

Our results show that CoolFlow PCM foam was around 5 degrees (Celsius) cooler than the standard foam.

Test #2: Hand Temperature Test

Applying standard compression to the foam using the palm of a hand, we tested the temperature of a standard Premium Comfort foam against the CoolFlow PCM foam. Both included the same grade of foam.

Pressure was applied for 10 minutes. We found the CoolFlow PCM was around 2 degrees (Celsius) cooler than the standard foam.
