Engineering Graduate Nikola Veljovic relishes a challenge
Nikola loves solving difficult problems.
His position as Engineering Graduate at Joyce’s Victorian office gives him the opportunity to use his qualifications and interest in project management to help improve both products and processes.
Born in Serbia, Nikola and his family first moved to Singapore, then to Abu Dhabi (UAE) for his high school years, and finally to Australia so he could attend university.
Nikola studied mechanical and civil engineering at RMIT, graduating with honours in December 2017. After graduation, he worked for a structural engineering consultancy as a graduate structural engineer.
“Engineering is a career I enjoy, but I’m really interested in honing my project management skills. Effective project management gives you the satisfaction of finding a solution to a unique and difficult problem, and working to overcome obstacles that arise unexpectedly”, explains Nikola.
As part of Joyce’s graduate program, Nikola will not only be able to apply his engineering knowledge. He’ll also work closely with suppliers and our sales and product development team to improve customer service and product quality.
“One of the most valuable lessons so far in the graduate program is to learn how to handle a problem as a group. I’m learning how to reach out to people for help. You don’t have to do everything on your own.”
When not at work, Nikola enjoys cooking, experimenting with different cuisines. He also loves to travel.
“My particular favourites are winter holidays skiing or going to a relaxing beach destination for some scuba diving.”
